Keynote Lecture & Workshop
On Sunday 7 July from 5:30 – 7:30 PM in Waterloo, ON, Canada, Canadian Global Security and the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) are hosting the public lecture, “Innocent at Large: With the UN in the Horn of Africa: One Canadian’s Story.” The lecture is sponsored by the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies, the Department of National Defence, and ACUNS. The public address will be given by George Somerwill, former Director of Public Information for the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations’ UN Mission in Sudan.
The lecture is part of a two-day workshop: “Sudan and South Sudan: Contributing to Conflict Prevention and Post-Conflict Stabilisation.” The Workshop features experts on the two Sudans, and will be led by former UN Mission staff and Canadian Forces Officers.
